About Our School

OUR PRINCIPAL

I am honored and beyond excited to be the principal at King Elementary for a second year! My personal family has been a part of the district 11 community for many years, and I am excited to be working in the district that we live in.  Two of my children graduated from Doherty High School and two of my family members currently work in D11 schools.  District 11 is home to my family.

This is my 26th year in education. I started my career in the classroom, teaching kindergarten, first and second grade before becoming a reading teacher for K-5 students. After that, I was a literacy coach and assistant principal.  For the last eleven years I have been either an elementary principal or director of special services.   

King is a great school with amazing kids and families. I love being a member of the King Family and supporting our mission to Dream, Achieve, Empower.

Welcome to King Elementary School

Serving the Colorado Springs community since 1984

King Elementary School is proudly named after the great American civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Since opening our doors in 1984, we have remained committed to fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for students in preschool through fifth grade. Our average enrollment is approximately 350 students.

We are proud to be a Capturing Kids’ Hearts School, where relationships and social-emotional growth are a central part of our culture. Our dedicated staff is committed to providing a high-quality education that supports each student’s unique potential.

Community and PTA Events

King Elementary is fortunate to have an active and engaged Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). Our PTA helps create a vibrant school community by organizing family-friendly events such as:

  • Fall Festival

  • Science Night

  • Bingo for Books
